My journey as an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist began after experiencing first hand the beneficial qualities of massage which helped ease an increasingly painful condition and highlighted other areas contributing to the problem. I am a passionate bodyworker providing bespoke and intuitive treatments tailored to and focusing on the needs of the client. Advanced Clinical Massage is an outcome based therapy – to help people out of pain or to reduce it significantly enough to improve quality of life, increase range of motion, improve posture and of course, to treat general stress and tension.
I combine advanced clinical massage techniques including trigger point therapy, myofascial release, hot and cold therapy, and stretching to target particular areas of chronic pain and treat specific injuries/conditions such as Frozen Shoulder, Whiplash, Carpal Tunnel, Sciatic pain and Tennis Elbow. I also include advice on self-care including stretches, exercises or relaxation techniques that clients can do at home to help aid their recovery.
I also offer Hot Stone Fusion Massage which effectively combines Eastern and Western advanced stone techniques for both relaxation and remedial work. Smooth, heated basalt stones are used to massage the body helping to speed up the process of relaxing the muscle allowing much deeper and truly effective work. It can also help to promote circulation, increase body metabolism, aid detoxification as well as helping to reduce stress levels (both emotional and physical).
I am also qualified in Holistic Massage and Indian Head Massage.
I have worked for over 12 years as a chartered physiotherapist and as massage & complementary therapist in the NHS, for a charity and in private settings. I have experience with a wide range of physical and medical conditions and treat clients from the less able to the very active- for relaxation of body and mind, to promote healing and recovery or to enhance performance. In addition to my training in physiotherapy and western styles of massage I am influenced by my studies in eastern healing arts including Shiatsu, Seiki (gentle form of Shiatsu), Shintaido (movement therapy) and currently Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.
I always treat the whole person and combine treatment methods to suit individual needs. Body awareness and self-help exercises are encouraged to maintain health and well-being.
