What is Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a gentle process whereby the teacher uses their hands to gently change and improve your physical movement patterns in every day activities.
You will learn to identify how unhelpful muscle tension and unconscious movement habits can lead to poor balance and posture, stiffness, back and neck pain and injury.
You are shown how to improve your awareness of harmful tension habits by combining thinking and movement. This helps to restore ease of movement, balance and poise .

What to expect at one of our treatment sessions
A typical session involves the teacher gently guiding your basic movements through sitting, standing and lying down. We teach you to develop awareness of how much muscle tension you are using in your body – then we teach you how to reduce tension and find ease in your mind , body and movements.
Further sessions can involve exploring your workplace activities such as computer use, musical instruments, sports performance, to improve your functioning.
It is recommended that you wear unrestrictive clothing. Trousers or leggings are ideal. You may be asked to remove your shoes.
